Chevrolet claimed this year to offer "America's Highest Mileage Car,
America's Fastest Car.....America's Most Popular Full-Size Car and
America's Most Popular Car, Regardless of Size".
Still 1985 was a year of refinementand evolution rather than revolution.

Full-size Chevrolets had some changes to produce a more controled ride, plus an economical new 262 cu. in. (4.3-litter) V-6 engine rated 130 horsepower.
That new base engine was described as
"A Standard V-6 That Acts Like A V-8."
All full-size models now wore Fourth Generation All-Season Tires. Four-Speed Overdrive Automatic was available across the board. For the last time, the Diesel V-8 was optional
(except in California).
The lineup again included Caprice Classic Two-Door, Four-Door and Station Wagon.
Interiors received their most extensive rework since 1977, all presumably to give a more contemorary, less stodgy look and feel.
Wagons again came with a Standard 305 cu. in. (5.0-litter) V-8 which was optional in other models. This year it got a boost in compression and horsepower, plus a new Exhaust System.

Caprice had a bold Crosshatch Grille, Parking Lamps Inset into the Bumper, Wraparound Cornering Lamps, and Quad Rectangular Headlamps.
A Caprice Classic Script was at the forward end of front fenders. Caprice added a Quartz Clock, Dual Horns, Wheel Opening and Bodyside Moldings. Headlamps-On Buzzer, and Bumper Rubber Strips (except Wagons).

Wagons included Vinyl Beanch Seating, a Locking Side Compartment, Heavy-Duty Front/Rear Suspension, Power Liftgate Window, and Overdrive Automatic Transmission, along with the V-8 Engine.
